Sophie Eadie

Sophie Eadie :: The Brokenhead Company :: Fabulous Female Friday

Soph is my ultimate dream-girl hippie.

She lives in Byron and started The Brokenhead Company who produce organic coconut milk and organic cold press coffee + coconut milk which I raced around Byron trying to find when it first came out and I must say is delicious!

She is a dreamer with drive and such a great example of how living simply with a big focus on nature can really enrich your life.

She has this beautiful mix of a rigorous intellect combined with a philosophical, reflective perception of herself and the world around her.

Her latest epiphany might just make you cry.

Here are her words:

How would your biggest fan describe what you do?

Eek! I’m coming back to this one…

Alright, I’m back…

Consciously creating a purpose driven business to provide healthy products to fellow beings. These products impact minimally on the Earth and its inhabitants, and seek to provide nourishment and enjoyment to all who taste them. The ingredients used are all certified organic and sustainable, and the products are all able to be recycled (and in the area of Byron Bay wherever possible bottles are collected, washed, sanitised and reused). The business is community focused, and Sophie gets great joy from becoming more connected within her local community, and extending her connections to other wonderful communities further afield. The human element of creating connections and giving and receiving support that she has experienced in starting up a business is truly a wonderful, exciting and nurturing feeling that she is incredibly grateful for.

What’s lighting up your world at the moment?

So many incredible things! I feel like the stars are aligned for me at the moment… My partner and I started The Brokenhead Company at the beginning of the year and it’s continuing to go from strength to strength, growing out of my home kitchen into the local Byron area and now 1000s of kms beyond. We have been so supported throughout the whole thing. The feeling of creating something that is growing so organically and the connections with amazing people near and far that it is bringing us is so satisfying and so exciting, it’s definitely what’s lighting up my world right now :o)

What is your morning routine?

Routine: a concept that only ever seems to dip in and out of my life… I wake around 6, brush my teeth, drink some water and walk down the bush track from home to the beach. Then I either exercise for an hour with a group of women whilst the sun rises and then have a swim in the ocean, or I watch the sun rise, meditate and then have a swim in the ocean, then I walk home, have a quick shower and head off to work. Some mornings I wake early and head straight into work as there aren’t enough hours in the day to do otherwise – them’s the breaks when you have your own business it seems! I almost always stop to get a fresh cold pressed vege juice and/or coconut milk chai on the way to work – it’s a nice little ritual to indulge myself in before the start of the working day.

What’s burning a hole in your playlist? (Even if it’s embarrassing)

Joss Stone. Always Joss Stone.

Other recent listens include Michael Jackson, Notorious BIG, Eva Cassidy, Des’ree and James Morrison. I’ve also just got into Spotify, and I’m loving the playlists on there – soul and r’n’b mostly, in case you hadn’t guessed :o)

What are your favourite apps?

Duolingo – learn Spanish whilst sitting on the toilet!

Property Investment Australia – I love reading about property investing!

Audible – I listen to lots of audio books. I only got into them late last year, and now I listen to them so often. I don’t often have time to sit down and read a book, so it’s a great way to listen to something inspirational, learn something, or just drift off into a wonderful story whilst I’m driving, cooking, or making coconut milk at work!

Podcast – I’m currently listening to Tim Ferriss. I like to listen to a wide range of people. It’s nice to listen to people I admire or find inspiring, and whose values or goals align with mine, although it’s also nice to listen to people with differing opinions. I find that this allows me to look at myself more critically. Sometimes it just works to cement what I already believe, however it often allows me greater perspective, teaches me a lesson and provides me with new information. Listening to and reading a wide range of things ultimately leaves me feeling more enriched, and I get much satisfaction from this feeling.

What book would you recommend to your younger self?

Passport. Use it as much as you can, while you can. Don’t put it off.

Tell us what you ate yesterday. (Be honest! ;o)

Home made almond milk chai

Home made banana bread with macadamia butter, sliced banana, honey and cinnamon

Japanese pancake with tahini dressing and green salad

Lebanese cucumber

Dried apricots

Fresh ginger tea

Lots of spring water

All organic

Where do you eat out?

Mostly organic, vegetarian cafes around Byron Bay – Naked Treaties, Santos, Fundies, Cardamom Pod. I also eat at Orgasmic, The Treehouse, The Roadhouse, Luscious Foods, O-Sushi, Fish Mongers Rock ‘n’ Roll Café and Milk and Honey (the latter 2 of which are in Mullumbimby)

On a perfect day, what would you do?

Wake naturally at first light, walk down to the beach for a stroll and a meditate, eat fruit salad, go to the weekend market and then swim in the ocean with loved ones, walk along the coastline to the lighthouse, eat a wholesome and delicious dinner with my family, maybe watch some live music, shower, go to bed by 10pm, have sweet dreams. That’s a version of a perfect day, I have many!

List 3 things that make your heart sing.

Being totally surrounded by nature with the sun on my skin and no place to be

Hot showers on cold rainy days

Unexpected kindness and support

Travelling (I know that’s 4, but I couldn’t leave it off the list!!)

Love

What’s one life lesson you’ve learned that you would teach a daughter?

You are perfect, you are loved, you can choose your own path, and always remember that the only thing you ever have complete control over, and that which you and only you are always responsible for, is your mindset.

The last time you had a breakthrough epiphany, what did you learn?

That love is all there is. That how I feel about other people, and how I believe other people feel about me, is only ever a reflection of how I feel within myself, and that how other people actually feel about me or behave towards me is only ever a reflection of how they feel within themselves. It was a profound, beautiful and powerful moment, and those feelings have remained with me ever since.

Cleanser: Locally made natural soap, I choose a different scent every time.

Moisturiser: Secret Women’s Oil from The Good Oil Company

Sunscreen: Get out before you burn! I don’t like sunscreen.

Makeup: Hmmm I don’t wear much of it, and it’s a mixed bag of brands when I do – all natural though and cruelty free. I really like this new Buxom lip colour I bought, it has peppermint oil in it which gives a natural plumping affect, and also feels really tingly and nice!
