Some days just don’t go very well.

You know the ones? They’re the days when it feels like it’s you against the world.

Maybe you wake up a bit late and then you’re rushing like crazy to get out the door. Inevitably something will happen to make you even more late, like you trip over or drop stuff in your haste. Then you rush in to pick up something for breakfast and the person who serves you is really rude. It’s the kind of day where you think “What on earth did I do to deserve this?!”

What I have come to realise though, is that it has so much more to do with a tiny little thing that is totally within our control ~


Our bad days have so much more to do with what headspace we’re in and how we view each situation, each challenge, each conflict we are faced with than the actual event itself.

We have the freedom to choose how we respond to each little thing we encounter in every day of our lives. We choose how we view things and how they affect us. So if we feel like we’re having a bad day, the smallest thing, like someone not being very polite to us or tripping over can seem really bad and yet another thing that went wrong. Conversely, when we’re in a great headspace, someone can be really rude to us or we can fall flat on our butts and we laugh it off, because we choose our response. We choose our perception of everything. And all these tiny perceptions build our view of the world.

Knowing this, what kind of view of your life and the world would you ideally like to have?

What if you could actively CHOOSE to have a good day, no matter what happens?

Take the above photo. This was the morning after my best friends’ wedding, it was going to rain and I was very tired. We had a long day ahead and I could have easily chosen to stay in bed. But I had a niggling thought of how much fun the pool would be at 8am. And it was. Instead of feeling tired and run down the whole day, I felt energised and in high spirits. And it was all a choice.

I invite you to watch how you react to different stimuli in your life and the next time something bad happens, I encourage you to take a deep breath, remember that SPACE of FREEDOM that YOU own, and actively choose a different perception and response. See how much better the world can be when you are conscious about your perception of it.
