Zhanna Dijkstra :: Holistic Health Coach, Raw Food Chef, Green Smoothie Connoisseur :: Fabulous Female Friday
Zhanna is a gorgeous friend who I met whilst studying at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
She currently lives in Holland but has also lived in Sydney, Melbourne and LA!
She is a Raw Food Chef and lives a vibrant Vegan lifestyle. She glows. Her pure vitality shines when you see her in person and she has a lot of wisdom to share.
Here are her words:
How would your biggest fan describe what you do?
A passionate game-changer on a mission to help brave souls to discover their inner power, find their true calling and thrive amongst the madness of targets and deadlines.
What’s lighting up your world at the moment?
As a Raw Food Chef & Health Coach I love sharing my knowledge on creating abundant health through food. I have just released an free eBook Supercharged Breakfasts (http://bit.ly/superchargedbreakfasts), full of easy, fast, yummy, healthy plant-based recipes that are ready in under 10 minutes and to go together with it a free eGuide Eating for Energy: 12 Tips on how to feel Fabulously Energetic All Day, Every day (http://bit.ly/eatingforenergyguide).
Currently I am also planning my first raw food pop-up dinner called Raw Senses in Amsterdam (NL) that will take place o 4 October 2015. Together with another raw chef from London we are creating a gourmet raw food extravaganza to show people that healthy, vegan food can look and taste awesome. More information will be released on my Facebook soon.
What is your morning routine?
My routine changes with seasons. Currently, I start my day with a gratitude mantra & breathing exercises. Then I do oil pulling followed by a big glass of warm lemon water, dry brushing and a shower. I drink a cup of tea outside & set intentions for the day. Then I have breakfast which is usually a huge green smoothie and go for a bike or a walk. After that I am ready for whatever that day might bring.
What’s burning a hole in your playlist? (Even if it’s embarrassing)
Anything by Adele, I love her work.
What are your favourite apps?
Evernote for business, Inside Timer for meditation tracking and Conversations from Daniele Le Porte.
What book would you recommend to your younger self?
The Gifts of Imperfections by Brene Brown and The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
What is your personal food philosophy?
This quote by Michel Pollan describes it beautifully: “If it came from a plant, eat it. If it was made in a plant, don’t”. As much as possible I use organic, seasonal ingredients and never make anything that takes more than 10 minutes to put together (except for party food).
Where do you eat out?
I rarely eat out but while in Melbourne I loved The Kettle Black (www.thekettleblack.com.au). In Amsterdam I love Puccini (www.puccini.nl) for the best coffee in town and SLA (www.ilovesla.com) for fast, easy, nutritional vegan meals.
On a perfect day, what would you do?
I am lucky to live by a forest, so on a perfect day I would wake up real early and go for a walk to enjoy the silence & see the nature wake up. After that I would pay a visit to my favourite organic farmer’s market followed by a yoga session and a long, lazy lunch with friends in a park. The day would end with watching the sunset with a glass of good wine.
List 3 things that make your heart sing.
Traveling. Playing with raw food in the kitchen. Coaching beautiful souls to take back their power & create the life they always dreamt of.
How do you want to feel? (Your Core Desired Feelings)
Fearless, Feminine, Aligned, Passionate
What’s one life lesson you’ve learned that you would teach a daughter?
That a road to happiness is an internal journey, not an external one. I had to go as far as Antarctica to figure that out ;-)
The last time you had a breakthrough epiphany, what did you learn?
That I am enough & that my self-worth does not depend of opinion of other people.
QUICK N DIRTY
Massage: The only place where I go for massages is Thailand. Classical Thai Massage is my favourite as it has amazing restorative & healing properties. If you even end up on Koh Chang in Thailand, Sima Massage is absolutely the best on the island.
Facials: I prefer doing my own facials using organic clay masks from Raw Gaia (www.rawgaiabyjessica.com). Their Chocolate Face Pack is to die for.
Natural Therapists: Since staying in LA I became a big fan of colonic hydrotherapy. Gentle Wellness Center in Santa Monica, CA (www.gentlewellnesscenter.com) is fantastic & my therapist Kimberly was the most gentle soul.
Anyone else you’d like to shout out to: I recently spent several months in Melbourne & fell in love with this unusual yoga studio in Prahran called Humming Puppy (www.hummingpuppy.com). Every time I went there it felt like a treat , it is amazingly beautiful & tranquil.
Tried and tested natural beauty products
Deodorant: I make my own with bicarbonate of soda, coconut oil, arrowroot powder & essential oils.
Shampoo & Conditioner: Shikakai Hair Wash from Raw Gaia which is a shampoo & conditioner in one. It is a bit messy to apply but the result is amazing. Unfortunately it is only suitable for darker hair.
Cleanser: I love Skin Divinity Cleansing Spray from Raw Gaia as well as their raw soaps that are gentle for both face & body
Moisturiser: Organic cold-pressed oils from Raw Gaia. Currently I am also in love with cold-pressed organic oils and essential oils (food grade, yay!) from NHR Organics (www.nhrorganicoils.com)
Makeup: I recently spent 2 months in LA while doing my raw food chef certification and fell in love with this brand called RMS Beauty (www.rmsbeauty.com), especially their Volumizing Mascara & “Un”Cover-up concealer.
Any others you love: Pure essential oils from Essentially Australia (www.essentiallyaustralia.com.au)
